Blessing of Palms:
Process to altar in order:

3S - Carry thurible - go to far right.
2S - Carry Missal - go to right of Priest.
1S - Carry aspergil - go to left of Priest.

Genuflect and put biretta on step, all turn & go to the table with palms.

1S - After prayer present aspergil to Priest & hold cope as palms are sprinkled.

2S - Hold Missal open for Priest.

3S - After palms are sprinkled present thurible to the Priest.

Distribution of Palms:

Return to altar in same order - genuflect:

1S - Return aspergil to sacristy.

2S - Place Missal on Cruet Table and take three palms from table.

3S - Return thurible to stand.

All meet at the foot of the altar, ascend and kneel on platform and receive palms. (When receiving palm - kiss palm and then the Priest hand.) Descend and genuflect.

1S & 2S – Give your palm to 3S. Take bunches of palms from table and keep Priest supplied with palms for the distribution at the Communion Rail.

3S – Take servers palms and place them on cruet table. During the distribution, take three palms from table. Place one in the processional cross and two near center of altar on ES.

Washing of hands & Gospel:

2S – While Priest washes hands, change Missal to GS and remain until Priest begins Gospel. Return to ES and stand next to 3S.

3S - Assist Priest in washing of hands at cruet table, then get thurible.

1S - Assist Priest in washing of hands at cruet table, and remain there until Priest ministers incense.

Procession:

After Gospel Priest returns to center of altar:

2S & 3S - Ascend and present incense on ES:

3S - After incense is ministered, go to center of sanctuary near Communion rail, face altar. Lead procession after Priest intones. On returning, return thurible to sacristy and close Communion gates.

2S - Hold cope as Priest ministers incense, then take palms from altar and give one to the Priest. Stand at Priest left facing people. When Priest intones, go down steps with him. Genuflect and give Priest his biretta. Walk on his left during procession holding your palm in your left hand. On returning, take Priest palm and biretta. Genuflect and put palm on cruet table and biretta on sedilia.

1S - When Priest ministers incense, get processional cross and go to Communion gates for the procession. Wait for the Priest and 1S to come to foot of altar, all genuflect except you and the procession begins. On returning, assist the Priest in vesting for Mass.

Mass:

Omit prayers at foot of altar. Do not sign yourself at the Passion, kneel as Priest kneels during reading of Passion, do not respond "laus tibi Christe." Last Gospel is omitted.

3S - Immediately take thurible and ascend to ES shortly after Priest ascends. Minister incense ("Benedicite, Pater Reverende.") Minister incense and give incensations again for elevations.

Holy Thursday

Normal High Mass except:

1S & 2S - Ring bells during recitation of Gloria then use the clapper for remainder of Mass. The Creed is omitted. There is no confiteor at Communion. At ablutions after Communion genuflect on floor both before and after, there is no blessing or Last Gospel.

3S - Lead others to altar, genuflect & kneel. Ascend altar to present thurible after prayers at foot of the altar. Incensation of altar before Introit and at Offertory, afterward incensing Priest. Minister incense and give incensations again for Gospel and elevations. Receive Communion to ES of predella.

Washing of feet:

1S - Assist Priest to put on apron, take pitcher and basin, proceed to Priest left.
2S - Take towels and proceed to Priest's right.

1S & 2S - Return to table with Priest, return items. Assist washing of hands and vesting. Go to foot of altar and genuflect. Turn with Priest to face people as he recites a prayer. Then turn to face altar, genuflect and return to places. Mass continues.

3S - As Priest vests, get Missal and hold for Priest at foot of altar. After prayer, return Missal and proceed to place by cruet table.

End of Mass:

CB - After Communion, escort the TB's to the sacristy and light candles on altar of repose. Return to sacristy to get processional cross.

1S & 2S - At the end of Mass, come together at foot of altar with Priest, double genuflect, go to sacristy.

3S - After tabernacle door closes after Communion, retreat to sacristy, check if fresh coal is needed.

After Mass

1S – Get second thurible
3S – Get fresh charcoal

All return to altar in order - 3S, 1S, 2S, Priest.
(CB & TB’s enter from server’s sacristy)

3S - Proceed to right side of altar.
1S - Go to position on the left of the priest.
2S - Go to position on the left of the 1S
CB - Proceed to center of altar between the Communion gates.
TB's - Stand directly in front of CB.

All except CB double genuflect then kneel.

3S, 2S & 1S - After a moment of adoration, rise and put incense into thurible’s. The Blessed Sacrament is incensed.
2S - After incensation, get humeral veil and place on Priest shoulders.

When Pange Lingua is intoned:

TB - Process to Communion Rail and stand on left of CB; (kneel)
1S – Go to position on left of Priest; (kneel)
2S – Go to far right and step back a little, take humeral veil at proper time; (kneel)
3S - Go to ES and kneel on right of Priest; (kneel)

The Priest ascends and places the ciborium on the corporal. He genuflects, descends, and kneels and removes the humeral veil. The choir sings Tantum ergo and incense is ministered. The Priest places the ciborium in the tabernacle and kneels for a moment of adoration. All rise, double genuflect and return to the main Altar. All bow toward main altar, and go to sacristy.

Stripping of the Altars:

1S – Remain in priest sacristy to receive items
CB & TB’s – Remain in servers sacristy to receive items

2S & 3S - Process to foot of altar in order: 3S, 2S, Priest. Genuflect and ascend the altar. Receive items from him respectively and take to sacristy. Remove everything except six high mass candles. Descend, genuflect, process to side altar and strip it. Return to main altar, genuflect as Priest bows, remain standing as he recites antiphon. All genuflect as Priest bows, return to sacristy.

After the stripping of the altars, the sanctuary lamp is extinguished, the holy water fonts are emptied and the tabernacle door if left open.

Good Friday

The Lessons:

Begin with Missal on lectern stand, which is on the ES of sanctuary.

Go to foot of altar in order: 1S, 2S, 3S. 1S & 2S on right of Priest, 3S on left. Servers genuflect, Priest bows, all kneel.

A moment after the Priest prostrates:

2S - Take biretta to the sedilia and return to place. After Priest rises, take cushion and put in sacristy then return to place.

1S - Get lectern and place it to the left of Priest at foot of altar. Return to place and kneel.

Standing at the foot of the altar, the Priest recites the Oration. He then continues with the Lesson. At the end of the Lesson, the Priest, 2S and 3S go to the sedilia and sit while the choir sings the response. The 1S remains near the cruet table. Toward the end, the Priest returns to the altar while the servers remain at their places. The servers may sit during this, but must stand at Oremus, genuflect at Flectamus genua, and rise at Levate.

After the Priest as finished the lessons:

2S & 3S - Assist Priest as he returns to sedilia and sit with him as the choir sings the response.

1S – After the 2^nd lesson, move the lectern from the middle to the GS of sanctuary then return to place.

Toward the end of the response, the Priest, 2S and 3S return to the middle. The Priest bows and the servers genuflect. Proceed to lectern and face GS for reading of the Passion. 3S stand on Priest left, 2S on his right. At the end of the Passion, come to foot of altar, genuflect and return to sacristy.

The Solemn Orations:

1S & 2S - Bring out altar cloth. Genuflect, ascend and spread altar cloth. Return to sacristy.

3S - Place Missal stand on center of altar and take lectern to server’s sacristy. Return to sacristy.

All return to altar in same order as earlier:

1S - Return to place near cruet table.
2S - Go to ES, on right of Priest.
3S - Go to GS, on left of Priest.

The Priest bows, servers genuflect. The Priest ascends and begins the Orations. The servers kneel. Stand for Oremus, genuflect for Flectamus genua and rise at Levate. Stand for prayer, kneel at Amen. Follow this for all eight of the Orations. After the eight Orations, Priest descends, all make reverence and return to sacristy. 2S remove Missal from altar.

The Solemn Adoration of the Cross:

Return to altar in order:

1S - Carrying Missal.
2S & 3S - Hands folded.
4S & 5S - Carrying lighted candles.
Priest - Carrying Cross.

Proceed immediately to Epistle corner where all stand for first unveiling (facing people).

The 1S holds Missal open for Priest. The Priest unveils the top portion of the cross and sings Ecce lignum Crucis. After the response Venite, adoremus is sung, the servers turn toward the Cross, kneel on both knees, and bow. After a time, the servers rise and ascend with the Priest. This is done three times with a portion of the Cross being unveiled each time. When the entire Cross is unveiled, the Priest hands the veil to the 2S who takes it to the cruet table. After the third Venite, adoremus, the 2S and 3S take the Cross from the Priest. The 4S & 5S kneel on each side of the Cross facing it. The Priest goes to the sedilia to remove his shoes. The 1S puts the Missal on the cruet table and then assists him to remove his shoes, then removing his own shoes. After the Priest has removed his shoes he goes to adore the cross alone making three genuflections: the first at the Communion rail, the second in the middle of the sanctuary and the third at the foot of the altar. The servers also remove their shoes and adore two by two in the following order, making reverence to the Altar of Repose as they pass:

4S & 5S - Right after Priest leaves sedilia, place your candles in front of you on platform and go to cruet table to quickly remove shoes. Process to point of first genuflection when Priest kisses feet of cross. After adoration take cross from 2S & 3S. After they adore they take the cross back, and you get your candles.

1S - When Priest returns to sedilia, present him with his biretta, and (with your shoes already off) process to point of first genuflection and begin when 4S & 5S finish adoration. After adoration return to place at sedilia and put shoes back on.

2S & 3S - When 4S & 5S take cross from you go to cruet table to quickly remove shoes. Process to point of first genuflection and begin when 1S finishes adoration. After adoration take cross back from 4S & 5S.

After all servers have adored the cross:

2S & 3S - Take cross to Communion gates for veneration of the people.

4S & 5S - Proceed to Communion gates with 2S & 3S and take your place on each side of the cross for the veneration of the people.

1S – During veneration of people, light candles on altar of repose.

After the veneration of the people:

2S & 3S - Give cross to Priest and assist him in placing it on the Altar.

1S - Place a stool near the middle of the altar so the Priest can place the cross on top of the tabernacle and return to place near cruet table.

4S & 5S - Ascend with the Priest and place candles where the low mass candles go. Then genuflect and return to the sacristy.

The Priest returns to sedilia accompanied by the 2S & 3S:

1S - Assist the Priest in removing his cope and putting on a violet stole and chasuble.

2S & 3S - Take burse, ablution cup and purificator to altar by the side steps. Then go to middle, genuflect and return to Priest at sedilia.

When all is ready, the Priest returns to the foot of the altar with the 4S on his right and the 5S on his left. The priest ascends to spread out the corporal:

4S & 5S - When Priest descends, genuflect with him and follow 1S in procession.

1S – Get Clapper and stand in between communion gates and genuflect when Priest descends. Lead procession to Altar of Repose.

2S & 3S – Put shoes on and take places at the kneeling pads and wait for procession to return.

At Altar of Repose:

All make double genuflection and kneel.

1S - Get humeral veil and place on Priest shoulders.

When the Priest gets the ciborium from the tabernacle, all rise. The 4S & 5S get two processional candles prepared for them there and lead the procession back to the main altar, followed by the 1S, then the 2S & 3S and finally the Priest.

When the procession reaches the main altar:

4S & 5S - Separate at the altar step and wait for the Priest. When he gets there, ascend with him and place candles next to other ones you put there earlier. Go down the steps on the side, turn and kneel on the bottom step.

1S – Give clapper to 2S. When Priest places Blessed Sacrament on altar, take humeral veil and put in sacristy. Return and kneel on step near 2S.

2S & 3S - Kneel as Priest, 4S and 5S reach sanctuary. Follow normal rules for High Mass and Communion. Return to positions after Communion and not to side of altar.

Priest closes tabernacle, and standing in the middle sings the final three Orations. During the third Oration, the 2S gets the biretta and the 4S & 5S meet each other in the middle of the sanctuary facing the altar. When Priest descends altar, all genuflect and 4S & 5S lead the procession to the sacristy. The altar is stripped.

Easter Vigil

Blessing of Paschal fire & Paschal candle:

Process into sanctuary in order: 1S, 3S, 4S, 2S, Priest.

1S - Carry thurible (not lit) go to position in front of gate at Communion rail, face altar, genuflect, lead procession to Paschal fire.

3S - Carry cross, go to center of sanctuary (in front of 1S), bow, process behind 1S Paschal fire.

4S - Carry Missal, go to ES position, genuflect, process in front and at Priest's left to Paschal fire.

2S - Carry aspergil & aspersorium, go to GS position, genuflect, process in front and at Priest's right to Paschal fire.

Paschal Fire:

1S - Go to left of Paschal fire. (Keep fire supplied with wood.) After first oration, as Priest sprinkles fire with holy water, take charcoal from fire & place in thurible. Minister incense. Again minister incense for blessing of grains of incense.

2S - Stand to right of Priest, take biretta, hold edge of cope whenever Priest blesses fire or grains of incense. Place aspersory on table. Present stylus (knife) to Priest after he returns thurible to 1S. Hold dish of grains of incense. Receive stylus from Priest, present dish with grains of incense. Return stylus to table, take candle from table, light it from fire & hand it to Priest who lights the Pascal candle. Receive your candle back, extinguish & return it to table. Assist Priest as he changes vestments, give violet vestments to 4S (after he gives pachal candle to Priest), and stand at Priest's left.

3S - As Priest lights paschal candle go to vestibule. Leave cross in vestibule. Make sure the lights in church are off. Bring white stole & dalmatic to Priest from vestibule after pachal candle is lit. Get cross from vestibule & stand in position for procession.

4S - At the Paschal fire stand to left of 1S. After first prayer assist 1S to place charcoal into thurible from fire. Pick up paschal candle; hold it for blessing & to be lit (hold it in front of Priest with front of candle facing Priest).

Process to Sanctuary:

1S -- After Priest has changed vestments, minister incense w/o incensation. Stand in front of 3S for procession; wait until procession is lined up before continuing. Process to beginning of pews. Stop & face paschal candle, genuflect for "Lumen Christe." Sing w/ others Deo Gratias," continue procession. Repeat ceremony at center of aisle & center of sanctuary. Process to position on GS leaving room on your right for 3S and Priest. Remain standing until Priest puts Pascal Candle in stand and takes his place at foot of altar. Minister incense at position. Remain standing as Priest prays at foot of altar. Genuflect with Priest after he rises. Come to lectern on GS and stand on right side of Priest facing toward pulpit.

2S - Minister incense w/o incensation. Take unlit candle & aspersory from table (carry candle in left hand). Walk in procession on left side behind Priest. Genuflect to paschal candle as explained for 1S. Light your candle from paschal candle after first genuflection. After second genuflection, light 4S's candle; after third, light ushers' candles or those of the people, close gate, place aspersory on cruet table. Go to ES on right side of Priest.

3S - At the three chantings of 'Lumen Christe," turn to paschal candle as explained in 1S, bow. After third "Lumen Christe," go to position on GS to the right of the 1S. After the Priest genuflects, take position near pulpit facing Paschal Candle.

4S - Give paschal candle to Priest after he has put on white vestments and placed incense. In procession, carry Missal and priest's biretta in left hand, and unlit candle in right. Walk in procession on right side behind Priest. After third "Lumen Christen go to sacristy - turn all lights on. Return to sanctuary carrying lit candle, Missal & biretta (put Missal on lectern stand & biretta at sedilia). Return & stand at position at cruet table holding lit candle.

Exultet:

1S - After arriving at lectern, stand on left of priest and give thurible to 2S who gives it to Priest. Receive thurible back & return it to stand. Take candle from cruet table and light it from one of the other servers, hold in right hand. After "Exultet" blow out candle & place on cruet table.

2S - Follow Priest and 1S to lectern. Stand on right of Priest. Receive thurible from 1S and present to priest. Receive it back from Priest and give to 1S. Assist priest turning pages if necessary. After "Exultet", blow out candle and lead priest to foot of altar, genuflect, go to sedilia. Receive white vestments & take to sacristy. Return to sedilia position.

3S - Stand at position near pulpit facing Paschal Candle. After "Exultet" as Priest returns to foot of the altar, go to position directly behind him, bow as others genuflect, go to cruet table and return processional cross to its place. Take position at cruet table kneeling & standing for Lessons & Litany.

4S - After 'Exultet" blow out candle and place on cruet table. After the priest goes to sedilia, go to lectern, remove white cloth & take it to sacristy, return to ES sedilia position.

Lessons:

All sit (or kneel) & stand for Lessons. (Stand for prayers, genuflect at "Flectamus genua, " rise at "Levate" sit (or kneel) at "Amen".

2S & 4S - As Priest comes to be seated at sedilia (3 times as choir sings Canticles), rise & assist him to be seated.

Litany:

4S - After prayer after fourth Lesson, 2S & 4S accompany Priest to foot of altar (4S carry Missal), genuflect. Go to ES; kneel on step holding Missal for Priest.

2S - Go to sacristy & bring out white stole & cope. Place these on sedilia. Kneel on step to left of Priest & assist holding Missal.

1S & 3S - During the Litany place table in middle of sanctuary on ES with items needed for blessing of Baptismal & Easter water. Kneel on first step against wall at ES foot of altar. Make responses for Litany.

Procession to Baptismal Font & Renewal of Baptismal Vows:

All come to table in order right to left: 1S, 2S, Priest, 4S, 3S.

Hold lit candles during instruction & renewal of Baptismal vows. Kneel during Instruction; stand during renewal of Baptismal vows.

1S - Carry thurible. Minister incense w/o incensation after Priest washes hands. (Give boat to 2S while ministering.) Take place in center of sanctuary behind Cross, open gate; lead procession to Baptismal font. Stand to right of 2S at font. At conclusion of prayer, present thurible for incensation. Receive thurible, lead procession back to sanctuary (go to further ES position at foot of altar). Genuflect, return thurible & go to position at cruet table. After Priest changes vestments, bring thurible & meet Priest at foot of altar, genuflect; go to paschal candle (stand to right of candle & facing it). Minister incense, accompany Priest (hold cope) as he incenses around candle. Receive thurible, return to cruet table position & put thurible on stand. After Litany stand, come to foot of altar, genuflect, go to sacristy.

2S - Proceed to table and right of priest. Hold cope whenever Priest performs an action. Present towel each time he touches water. Take paschal candle from stand after Priest breaths three times over water. Present paschal candle to Priest; assist holding it as he lowers it into water. Receive candle from Priest, dry it, and return it to stand. Fill aspersorium at conclusion of Preface. Process to Baptismal font (in front of Priest on right). At font stand to right of Priest. Remove cover from Baptismal font, receive biretta, hold container of Baptismal water after Priest pours into font, step back as incense in ministered, present biretta after incensation. Process back in same order. Genuflect at foot of altar, go to sacristy, bring out white stole & cope, assist Priest to change vestments at sedilia. Return to cruet table position. Take candle from cruet table, light from Paschal candle, pass light to ushers, then to servers, returning to cruet table position. After renewal of Baptismal vows, come to foot of altar with Priest, (get apersorium from table) genuflect. Asperges as normal. Return to foot of altar, genuflect, go to ES position, (return aspergil to table), kneel & hold Missal with 4S for remainder of Litany. After Litany stand, come to foot of altar, genuflect, go to sacristy.

3S - At conclusion of first part of Litany take Cross, come to table with others (on left side of table facing GS of sanctuary). After blessing of Baptismal water go to position in center of sanctuary. After Priest has bowed to altar, turn and process following 1S to Baptistery (stand on opposite side of font & facing Priest). After incensation of font process back to sanctuary behind 1S. In sanctuary go directly to cruet table position. Return cross after Priest bows & others genuflect; remain at cruet table position. After Litany stand, come to foot of altar, genuflect, go to sacristy.

4S - Hold Missal at table. After holy oils are poured into water, set Missal down, get water and basin for Lavabo. Present biretta after Priest ministers incense. Carry Missal, genuflect at foot of altar, process to baptismal font (in front of Priest & to the left), stand to left of priest at font, hold Missal. Process back in same order.

Genuflect at foot of altar, place Missal on table, and assist Priest to change vestments, return to cruet table position. Take candle from cruet table (2S will light). After Baptismal vows extinguish candle, replace on cruet table, go to foot of altar with 2S. Asperges. Go to further ES (get Missal from table), kneel & hold Missal with 2S for remainder of Litany. After Litany stand, come to foot of altar, genuflect, go to sacristy.

High Mass as normal, except: There are no Prayers at Foot of Altar, Introit, Credo, Offertory, Agnus Dei or Last Gospel. Delay transferring Missal after Epistle until after third "Alleluia." Add double "Alleluia" to "Ite, missa est, Alleluia, Alleluia."

1S & BB - Incensations immediately at beginning of Mass (3 doubles for Priest), Gospel, Offertory (hold card - 3 doubles for Priest), elevations (fill thurible at "Hanc Igitur" - 3 triples for each elevation), 'Et valde mane' Communion.

1S - During "Gloria" unveil St Joseph statue and put chalice on altar.

2S - Ring bells during Mass and "Gloria" and sit with the Priest.

3S - Ring bells during "Gloria"; and sit with the Priest.

4S - During "Gloria" unveil St. Joseph & St Philomena statues. Place cloths in storage sacristy, place flowers on altar and return to place.

CB – Stand on the left side of the altar for Mass. Help at the Gloria putting flowers on the altar. Go into the sacristy for the sermon.

A1& A2 - At the Gloria, help with putting flowers on the altar. Afterward, get torches and stay next to the CB for the Mass except for going to the sacristy for the sermon.
